Rubbu Rubbu no Mi (Friction)
Devil Fruit, Uncommon
Type. Environment Alterer Paramecia
Fruit appearance. An orange kiwi type fruit with hair only on the pink swirls, causing the fruit to either feel rough or smooth depending on where you touch it.
Description. Grants the user the ability to manipulate and control friction, making them a Friction Human. The user can increase or decrease friction within a certain radius.
Sea Weakness. You are weak to water and seastone.
Frictionless Fighter. Thanks to your newfound abilities, you are completely immune to difficult terrain caused by natural environments, you have 10 feet of extra movement, and your movement speed cannot be reduced by your devil fruit’s spells or abilities.
Friction Control. As an action, you can increase or decrease the friction within a 20-foot radius centered on a point you can see within 60 feet. The area becomes either high-friction or low-friction, respectively. If the area is high-friction, it becomes difficult terrain. If the area is low-friction, creatures move at twice their movement speed within the area. The effect lasts for 1 minute or until you use this feature again.
Spells (Friction Techniques). This devil fruit power has 5 charges. You can expend 1 or more of its charges to cast one of the following spells from it without needing to expend material components: Decreased Friction (as Grease; 1 charge), Total Friction (as Hold Person; 2 charges, and can cast at higher levels by spending additional charges), or Friction Zone (as Plant Growth; affecting any area, not just plants; 3 charges). The devil fruit regains expended charges daily at dawn.
Awakening (Friction Mastery). Once you’ve awakened your power, you can use an action to manipulate friction on a grand scale. You can increase or decrease the friction within a 120-foot radius centered on a point you can see within 300 feet, and the area becomes difficult terrain. A creature that moves inside the area or starts its turn in the area must make a Constitution saving throw against your Devil Fruit save DC if it moves into the area or starts inside the area during its turn. On a failure, if the area is frictionless, the creature falls prone, taking 2d8 bludgeoning damage, and cannot stand up for the rest of its turn, sliding in a random direction for up to half the target’s movement, taking up it’s full movement. Alternatively, on a failure, if the area has enhanced friction, the target takes 2d8 fire damage from the friction and is restrained until the end of its turn. Your allies are immune to the effects of this area. After using this ability, you can’t use it again for another 24 hours.
