Bata Bata no Mi (Butter)

Devil Fruit, Uncommon

Type. Substance Generator Paramecia

Fruit appearance. A melty, off white pear-shaped fruit with a short green stem.

Description. Grants the user the ability to produce and manipulate butter, including shaping it into various forms and making it slippery or sticky.

Sea Weakness. You are weak to water and seastone.

Butter Creation. As a butter being, you are able to produce and control butter in various ways. You learn the acid splash cantrip. Any butter produced with this devil fruit is thick and viscous enough to not be considered water to devil fruit users, but creatures fully submerged in butter will suffocate and drown normally as if they are underwater. You are immune to suffocating in your own butter.

You can spend 1 devil fruit charge to cast create or destroy water as a 1st-level spell slot, without expending a spell slot or material components. Instead of producing or destroying water with this spell, you produce or destroy edible butter that is much thicker than water in the same amount and volume. This butter counts as food when consumed, but spoils after 24 hours. You may spend additional devil fruit charges to increase the level of this spell by 1 for every charge expended as a part of casting the spell. Additionally, you learn and can use the Shape Water cantrip on this butter.

Butter Shield. As a reaction, when you are hit by a melee or ranged attack, you can expend 1 or more devil fruit charges to create a butter shield that provides you with temporary hit points equal to 1d6 (for each charge spent) + your proficiency bonus. While these temporary hit points remain, you are resistant to nonmagical bludgeoning and slashing damage. The shield lasts for 1 minute or until your temporary hit points are depleted.

Spells (Butter Techniques). This devil fruit power has 5 charges. You can expend 1 or more of its charges to cast one of the following spells from it without needing to expend material components: Grease (1 charge), Butter Glide (Kinetic Jaunt; 2 charges), Tidal Wave (liquid butter instead of water; 3 charges). The devil fruit regains expended charges daily at dawn.

Awakening (Butter Surf). Once you’ve awakened your power, you can use an action to cast Freedom of Movement on yourself with a 1 minute duration or until you fall unconscious, without expending any charges or material components, focusing on enhancing your agility and speed by covering yourself in butter. While this spell is active, your speed doubles, you gain immunity to nomagical bludgeoning and slashing damage, and you leave a 30-foot square trail of butter (like the Grease spell) on any surface beneath you at the end of your turn. You and your allies are ammune to this slippery trail, and move at twice the regular speed within the trail. You can’t use this action again for another 24 hours.
