Sabi Sabi no Mi (Rusting)

Devil Fruit, Rare

Type. Environment Alterer Paramecia

Fruit appearance. A maroon fruit with a rough texture, resembling corroded metal with flaky patches and rust-like patterns.

Description. This devil fruit gives its user the uncanny ability to induce rapid rusting and decay in metals. With just a touch or gesture, the user can make the sturdiest of metals brittle and fragile.

Sea Weakness. You are weak to water and seastone.

Rust Body. Any weapon made of metal that hits you corrodes. After dealing damage, the weapon takes a permanent and cumulative -1 penalty to damage rolls. If its penalty drops to -5, the weapon is destroyed. Ammunition made of metal that hits you is destroyed after dealing damage.

Corroding Touch. You corrode a ferrous metal object you can see within 5 feet of you. If the object isn’t being worn or carried, the touch destroys a 1-foot cube of it. If the object is being worn or carried by a creature, the creature can make a Dexterity saving throw against your Devil Fruit save DC to avoid your corroding touch.

If the object touched is either metal armor or a metal shield being worn or carried, its takes a permanent and cumulative -1 penalty to the AC it offers. Armor reduced to an AC of 10 or a shield that drops to a +0 bonus is destroyed. If the object touched is a held metal weapon, it rusts as described in your Rust Body feature.

Spells (Rusting Techniques). This devil fruit power has 9 charges. You can expend 1 or more of its charges to cast one of the following spells from it without needing to expend material components: Rust Blast (Tasha’s Caustic Brew; 1 charge, and can cast at higher levels by spending additional charges), Rust Arrow (Melf’s Acid Arrow; 2 charges), Rusting Sphere (Vitriolic Sphere; 4 charges), Transmute Rock to Mud (but only for unworn and unheld metal to rust; 5 charges). The devil fruit regains expended charges daily at dawn.

Awakening (Kingdom of Decay). Once you’ve awakened your power, you can use an action to release an aura of intense corrosion in a 30-foot radius centered on yourself. This aura turns the ground into a rust-colored, metal-corroding field. Every unworn and unheld metallic object or creature that starts its turn or enters the area for the first time must make a Constitution saving throw against your Devil Fruit save DC. Constructs made of metal have disadvantage on this saving throw. Unworn and unheld objects corrode instantly, and creatures take 5d10 acid damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. A creature’s held or worn metallic objects take a permanent and cumulative -1 penalty, as described in your Rust Body and Corroding Touch features, if it fails the save. This effect lasts for 1 minute or until you fall unconscious. Once used, you can’t use this action again for another 24 hours.
