Shuffu Shuffu No Mi (Playing Cards)

Devil Fruit, Rare

Type. Substance Generator Paramecia

Fruit appearance. This fruit is a white apple with playing card suits decorating its surface, and its stem mimics the appearance of a joker card.

Description. This enigmatic devil fruit bestows the power of playing cards upon its user. The wielder can manifest and manipulate playing cards with varying effects and even adopt traits from the cards themselves.

Sea Weakness. You are weak to water and seastone.

Card Manifestation. As an action, you can produce up to 52 playing cards from your hands. These cards are razor-sharp and can be thrown as ranged weapons with a range of 30/90 feet, dealing 1d6 slashing damage on a hit. You cannot use this action again to produce playing cards until the next dawn. You can only have up to 52 playing cards at a time.

Card Suit Abilities. You can infuse your actions with the power of one of the card suits. As a bonus action, you burn a number of cards based on the suit to adopt one of the following stances, which lasts until the start of your next turn:

  • Hearts (12 cards): When you or an ally within 30 feet are targeted by an attack, you can use your reaction to attempt to block the attack being made against the target with cards. The attack is instead made at disadvantage. You must declare this reaction before the result of the attack roll is given.

  • Diamonds (9 cards): Any card-based attacks you make deal an additional 2d8 radiant damage as they gleam with a dazzling shine.

  • Clubs (4 cards): You can use your cards as a melee weapon, dealing 2d8 bludgeoning damage on a hit.

  • Spades (1 card): You can dig or tunnel through the ground up to 10 feet during you turn with your card, as it slices through solid materials like a shovel through dirt.

Spells (Card Techniques). This devil fruit power has 9 charges. You can expend 1 or more of its charges to cast one of the following spells from it without needing to expend material components: Numbered Cards (Magic Missile; 1 charge; can be casted at higher levels by spending additional charges), Face Cards (Crown of Madness; 2 charges), Ace (Fireball; 3 charges), or Joker (Mislead; 5 charges). The devil fruit regains expended charges daily at dawn.

Awakening (Final Draw). Once you’ve awakened your power, you can use an action to regain all expended playing cards which are reshuffled into your hand and cast Crown of Stars (with glowing cards instead of motes of light). Once you activate this awakening, you can’t do so again for another 24 hours.
